Our Story

Parallel Manufacturing was built around a simple idea: combine modern manufacturing technology with real craftsmanship to turn ideas into products that are made to last.

What started with a passion for making and problem-solving has grown into a manufacturing company focused on creating products with purpose. We believe modern manufacturing does not have to mean mass-produced, disposable, or impersonal. Technology should make craftsmanship better, not replace it.

That philosophy traces back to our origin. Parallel Manufacturing was founded by a small group of designers and fabricators who shared an interest in traditional woodworking and modern production. While studying architectural screening systems, they became especially interested in Kumiko, the Japanese craft of assembling small wooden pieces into intricate geometric patterns without relying on nails.

Rather than reproducing traditional work exactly, the team began experimenting with ways to translate its visual principles into modern architectural panels. Early prototypes combined digital design, precision cutting, hand finishing, and modular construction. The name Parallel reflects that approach: traditional craft and modern fabrication working alongside one another.

CNC machining gives us repeatability and precision, while careful material selection, finishing, assembly, and attention to detail give each product its character. Whether we are producing a single custom piece, developing a prototype, or preparing a product for repeat production, our goal remains the same: make it accurately, make it thoughtfully, and make it well.

Backlit Panels

Selected Parallel Manufacturing panels can be paired with integrated or concealed lighting. Backlighting emphasizes the geometry of the pattern and creates a softer, more atmospheric effect. During the day, the panel reads as a crafted wood surface; when illuminated, the open areas become brighter and the pattern becomes more defined.

Backlit panels may be used for feature walls, reception desks, headboards, restaurant interiors, bar fronts, retail displays, hallways, ceiling installations, decorative signage backgrounds, and custom art installations.

Our Process

Not every project begins with a finished CAD file. Sometimes it starts with a sketch, photograph, measurement, concept, or simply an idea. Parallel Manufacturing helps bridge the gap between having an idea and having a finished product.
